Let's Start at the Very Beginning

I thought that starting this blog was going to be a great way to get a few people who were part of my morning text blast caught up on some of the previous texts.

What I didn’t think was that in a couple of short weeks, I’d be getting as many folks interested in reading our story as there have been.

And then my buddy told me that I hadn’t given any context; what is this blog about? How did this all start for our little family?

Let’s start here: the reason we started on our Total Money Makeover was that we were tired of having a fabulous income and seeing it eaten away by payments.

I knew my sister had sent my folks a copy of Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover book and I borrowed it from my folks and read it in a couple of days.

I watched Dave Ramsey’s YouTube channel and I started listening to his podcast.

Christina started reading The Total Money Makeover during her morning exercise routines.

We had made a decision.

We had had enough.

We were going to follow The Baby Steps.

Baby Step 0 - stop borrowing money - we weren’t borrowing money for anything other than a home mortgage anymore. No loans, no lines of credit, no credit cards, no store cards, no buy now pay later, no car financing, no leasing.

Then…

We went crazy!

We sold my utility trailer to fill our Baby Step 1 Baby $1,000 Emergency Fund.

We sold so much of our “storage” stuff that we didn’t “need storage” any more. By the way, all that junk put a huge dent in our debt - weird how things you own tend to own you, eh?

We were sick and tired of being sick and tired.

So we go down to it - Baby Step 2 - pay off all debt other than your mortgage. We sold things we didn’t need, I started going in to work on Saturday mornings, Christina watched every dollar of our family budget.

We are living proof that you can pay off a massive amount of debt in six months. We're well on our way to financial peace.

Now that you’re filled in...what do you think?
