I probably have one of the best family lives going. And it took some hard work and conscious decisions to get here. My wife and I are frank with one another: we learned a long time ago that if we wanted to win, we had to stop making excuses. Our money makeover started when we said that enough was enough. We weren't going to blame the economy, our jobs, the government, the make-up of Peterborough's population, the time of year, we weren't going to bring up any "I did _____ so I DESERVE _____ " - no more! ("Deserve" is a four letter word by the way - it's as big a thief as debt.) You will win when you say that you're DONE. Every other circumstance be damned, debt is a thief, it's getting kicked out of your lives. Stop giving yourself permission to "just manage" - thrive.”
